According to a recent report by Metrostudy, the housing market in Fort Myers is greatly increasing. Housing starts during the second quarter of 2013 were 35.5% higher than during the second quarter of 2012. During the second quarter of 2013, builders started 897 homes, compared with 662 started during the second quarter of 2012. Compared to first quarter of 2013, starts were up 34.1%. Annual move-ins into new homes rose again quarter-over-quarter, to 2,525. There were 732 move-ins during the second quarter of 2013, up 26.2% versus the first quarter of 2013, and slightly higher than the strong fourth quarter of 2012 move-ins pace of 717.
Builders are developing new communities and adding to existing communities to meet the demand in the Fort Myers area.
