North Miami Beach wasn’t always North Miami Beach. It was originally incorporated in 1927 under the name of Fulford. It was named after a noted member of the Coast Guard. The name change to North Miami Beach occurred in 1931. As of 2010, North Miami Beach had a population of 41,523. The city has a total area of 5.3 square miles, making it somewhat dense. However, the motto of North Miami Beach is “The Town Where People Care,” and the close quarters don’t affect the happy feel of the city.
There are plenty of attractions to keep you occupied in North Miami Beach. Many beautiful ocean beaches figure prominently in the recreational life of residents. There is an optional-clothing beach that is also fairly popular. Haulover Park and Haulover Beach are two of the major beach/park areas.
If you are interested in culture, the Medieval Spanish Monastery is an excellent way to experience it. The St. Bernard de Clairvaux Church was actually built in Spain, but it was disassembled and shipped to North Miami Beach later. Many weddings occur there, and it is popular as a tourist attraction.
If you like tennis, you’ll love the Judge Arthur I. Snyder Tennis Center. The center has quality clay courts, as well as courts for racquetball and paddleball. Plenty of schools are available for resident s’children. There are five elementary schools, two middle schools, and three high schools in the public school system. Two colleges have a home within the city limits.
North Miami Beach is part of the densely-populated South Florida, and it is, therefore, a fantastic place to go if you want to open a business or expand an existing one.
