About South Miami Florida

South Miami operates around a neighborhood-oriented downtown located on and around Sunset Drive and its neighborhood is nestled between Coral Gables and Pinecrest. The town was founded in 1897 and slowly grew to a population of 350 by 1917. In order to sustain the small town, the area was reduced from 6 sq miles to just 3 in 1927 and was officially named 'The City of South Miami, The City of Pleasant Living'.
