Searching for a government owned foreclosure has just become a lot easier, thanks to a new website from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
The site, huduser.org/REO/reo contains the combined active inventory of available properties currently offered for sale by HUD, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac nationwide. It provides detailed information regarding each property. Additionally the site offers extensive resources to expand the consumers’ knowledge base.

The site was designed for use by not for profit and governmental agencies that work within the Neighborhood Stabilization sector but is made available without a password which enables public use.
Many of the properties are offered with special financing and incentives that include closing cost credits, home warranties and reduced appliance costs. These programs vary and an experienced real estate agent will have this information available.
